Pages 98-102 and 296-197 include activities, reading, and illustrations that teach the main concept associated with this standard, namely that uneven heating of the planet is primarily due to the spatial relationship of Earth with respect to the to sun. As explained in the text, due to their different angles of insulation, Earth's equatorial areas receive much more solar energy than polar areas. Other cited pages address other factors that cause uneven heating and describe convection cells.
