4e Students know that the Earth's atmosphere exerts a pressure that decreases with distance above Earth's surface and that at any point it exerts this pressure equally in all directions.

Aspects that do not help student learning:
Text provides no coverage of second part of standard. In addition, air pressure changes to a much greater extent with change in altitude compared with the changes seen due to weather. Text frequently discuss both causes of changes, but does not explain that the magnitude of change with altitude is much greater.
