Aspects that help student learning:
Investigations provide many opportunities for students to record, graph, interpret, and predict from their data. They also share their results and critique their skills with other students. Investigations with separating mixtures ("Mixtures and Solutions" Investigation 1), yeast respiration ("Food and Nutrition" Investigation 2), and evaporation/condensation ("Water" Investigation 3) all teach content in the grade 5 science standards.
