Most 2-page Explore activities at the beginning of each Topic involve students in recording something about the activity in their Science Journals. |

Students are usually asked to record information from individual steps, but not to form a comprehensive report of the investigation. Few, if any, opportunities are provided for
effectively critiquing and improving reporting skills.
