Students construct an electromagnet in the "Quick Lab" on page 334.


Aspects that do not help student learning:
The activity on page 341 would teach the standard much better if students use a battery as the source of electricity that causes current to flow in the wire. As written, there are too many new concepts being introduced in one activity.
