Standard: Show Content Tip
3a Students know ecosystems can be characterized by their living and nonliving components.

Holistic Rating: Moderate coverage of this standard.
Investigations 1 and 4 in the "Environments" module and pages 1-8 and 9-17 in "Science Stories" provide moderate coverage of this standard.

Aspects that help student learning:
Pages 9-17 provide many examples of different biomes.

The rainforest journal in Science Stories pages 1-8 provide relevant information in a very engaging format.

Aspects that do not help student learning:
The information about the many different biomes can be overwhelming. More summary charts and statements would help in comparing ecosystems and how they resemble each other and differ in their biotic and abiotic components.
