Standard: Show Content Tip
2c Students know the sequential steps of digestion and the roles of teeth and the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon in the function of the digestive system.
Holistic Rating: In-Depth coverage of this standard.
| Pages A19 and R32-R33 provide in depth coverage of this standard. Both the standard and California Science Framework state "large intestine and colon" as if these are two different organs. They are the same thing. This text just refers to that part of the digestive system as "large intestine." |
Aspects that help student learning: Illustrations on pages A19 and R32 show the parts of the digestive system. Pages A19 and R33 include an excellent suggestion to chew an unsalted cracker and experience that it begins to taste sweet because of the digestive action of saliva.
