Standard:
3b Students know when liquid water evaporates, it turns into water vapor in the air and can reappear as a liquid when cooled or as a solid if cooled below the freezing point of water.

Holistic Rating: In-Depth coverage of this standard.
Pages C16-C19 provide in-depth coverage of this standard in the Unit on "Matter and Energy." Focus there is on the packing of particles in solids, liquids, and gases, and on the transitions from one physical state to another. Page B15 provides in-depth coverage from the point of view of the water cycle. Pages B20-B21 illustrate these changes within the water cycle but do not include cooling below the freezing point of water. The evaporating salt water activity on pages B18-B19 covers the standard except for the cooling below the freezing point of water.

Aspects that help student learning:
Standard is taught in multiple ways with text, illustrations, and an activity.
