Standard: Show Content Tip
2c Students know the sequential steps of digestion and the roles of teeth and the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon in the function of the digestive system.

Holistic Rating: In-Depth coverage of this standard.
Pages A38-A43 provide in-depth coverage of this standard. This builds upon an introduction on pages A28-A30 as well as activities on pages A26-A27 and A34-A37.

Both the Standard and California Science Framework say "large intestine and colon" as if these are two different organs. They are the same thing. This text correctly refers on page A43 to "the large intestine, also called the colon."

Aspects that help student learning:
High quality graphics illustrate the parts of the digestive system.
