2c Students know the sequential steps of digestion and the roles of teeth and the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon in the function of the digestive system.


Holistic Rating: In-Depth coverage of this standard.
Pages 6-9 and 48-49 in the "Food and Nutrition" Science Stories provide in-depth coverage. Both the Standard and California Science Framework say "large intestine and colon" as if these are two different organs. They are the same thing. Pages 48 and 49 show that the large intestine and colon are the same thing.
