Jacqueline Barber is Associate Director of the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) in charge of the Curriculum, Research and Development Division. Ms. Barber has a bachelor's degree with a major in physiology from Hampshire College and began her career conducting research in endocrinology, receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to continue her research in Strasbourg, France. The past 20 years, she has been involved in K-12 science and mathematics education, in curriculum and professional development. She was Project Director of the NSF-funded Primary Leadership in Science and Mathematics project, a six-year leadership development program for K-3 teachers. She has authored numerous science and mathematics curriculum units including a handbook on curriculum assessment. In addition to her role as Associate Director of LHS, Ms. Barber currently directs the LHS Center for Curriculum Innovation, and one of its programs, the Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS) Program, a supplementary curriculum program including more than 70 teacher's guides and handbooks. As Director of the LHS Center for Curriculum Innovation, Ms. Barber is involved with all LHS instructional materials development programs and is responsible for leading LHS in addressing shared issues and concerns related to curriculum development, assessment, and implementation.. jbarber@uclink4.berkeley.edu |

About the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS)
The mission of the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS), at the University of California at Berkeley, is to develop model programs for teaching and learning science and mathematics, and to disseminate these to an ever-increasing audience. The Hall is a resource center for children, parents, educators, and policymakers seeking to improve the understanding and increase the enjoyment of science and mathematics.
Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) is a singular resource center for preschool through high school science and mathematics education, and a public science center with exciting hands-on experiences for learners of all ages.
