Sharing: a skeptical note 6/10/04 6:34 AM
Author: Bryan Hassel Active Panelist  View Thread

I have a five and a seven year old, so I know how hard it can be to share! Kudos to Carole's school for doing it.

Schools are notoriously bad at sharing-- years of education research demonstrate that good ideas and best practices tend not to diffuse well. Even when millions of dollars have been put into defusing good ideas, there's been little change in the "receiving schools."

So I'm skeptical that sharing is the best way to spread good ideas, b/c I'm doubtful of how much uptake there will be by other schools. Am I too pessimistic?

I'm more optimistic about existing successful charter schools spreading their ideas by starting additional charter schools.
