Two years ago, with federal support, we did a report called "What Should We Do?" It described and offered examples of
* clear and explicit goals that some schools have used as part of their accountability plans
* methods of measuring student achievement beyond standardized tests, including rubrics for judging public presentations, written compositions and other work
* ways that schools have communicated effectively with families

This report is available for down-loading, free, from our website www.centerforschoolchange.org Hundreds of people have written called or told me at meetings that the examples offered from other schools - both district and charter - are extremely useful.

Teachers are VERY hungry for specific, practical things they can use. This is one way that "best practices" can be shared...via publications, combined with presentations where teachers have a chance to look at, reflect and refine what others have done.
