Describe Your Expertise: Advisory Boards - have established, managed, and developed integrated processes to ensure advice given is relevant and gets used.
Board Development - includes techniques to start from scratch or re-build a disfunctional Board. Emphasis on human resource identification and development.
Business & industry education - using communications tools, to assist business and industry in incorporating environmental issues in decision making. Sustainable development - issues identification, ethics, transparent communications, etc. are all a part of Garry's work with businesses interested in environmental stewardship.
Communications Strategy Development - whether corporate, NGO, or community-based, basic planning and communications strategies are essential to all business plans. (Includes internal and external communications).
Community building - first define what your community is. Then identify what building you want to construct. Have the community draw up a set of plans. Make the community work to implement the plans. Help the building grow.
Effective decision-making - based on knowing you are asking the right questions/tackling the real problem. Finding solutions that can be adaptive as the problems seem to shift. (Have delivered half and one-day workshops tailored to needs of organizations.)
Grant program management - Garry Enns has spent much of his career establishing and managing grant programs for government and for NGO's. From this experience, he knows that your program is doomed without clear mission and objective statements and without clear funding criteria. Garry can help you to develop these.
Grant writing - Garry recently raised $1.5 million CDN ($1million US)to assist a small Manitoba village restore and conserve Canada's last row of historic grain elevators. This is just one of the many projects he has written proposals for. He can help you write yours,he can assist in identifying best approach to funders, and he can help set achievable goals.
Networks - interagency and regional - are built one link at a time. Garry can help you find the patience to make the linkages you/your organization need. Garry can get you to see beyond your immediate connections and can get you to begin identifying the depth and scope of your potential networks.
Non-profit organizational management - starts with a sound business plan and clear mission statement and goals. Garry can identify tools to assist organizational management and can help you figure out which tools work best for your organization.
Partnerships - Garry is a member and active in Business Communicators, Farm Writers, Advanced Educators, Literary Society, and Community Development organizations. He has identified partnerships within and between organizations mentioned and has built lasting partnerships. Always ask "So what?"

Sustainable development - Garry Enns researched, wrote, and developed a set of curriculum resources for Manitoba Education and Training introducing the concept of Sustainable development to Middle and Senior Years students in this province. ALso, developed a series of decision-making workshops to begin exploring ways in which the environment becomes a part of all decisions we make - at work, at home, and at play.
