Position Hours: 40-45 hours per week between 9am and 5pm

WHO IS KIDS for the BAY?
KIDS for the BAY (KftB) inspires environmental consciousness in
children and cultivates a love of learning. We connect children to
nature and turn children on to science through hands-on investigations
of our natural world. KftB?s programs also empower children to take
action to help solve environmental problems in their communities. To
learn more about our mission and our award-winning programs, please
visit our website at www.kidsforthebay.org .

KIDS for the BAY SUMMER CAMP OVERVIEW
KftB is in its thirteenth year of delivering a fun-filled summer of
hands-on science and nature exploration in the outdoors, studying the
environment of the San Francisco Bay Area through thoughtful
    investigation and scientific adventure.

Our camp sessions are one week long (Monday-Friday) between the hours
of 9am and 4pm and take place at various natural habitats around the
Berkeley area, including Lake Anza, Jewel Lake, Strawberry Creek, and
the Berkeley Marina. Some sessions of camp include field trips to
    nature-themed sites in San Francisco, Marin, and the East Bay;
transportation to these sites is provided by KIDS for the BAY.

KIDS for the BAY offers camp sessions for two different age groups:
5-8 year olds and 8-11 year olds. Our 5-8 year old camp themes are
?Aquatic Science Adventures?, ?Wonderful World of Plants?, and
?Animals, Animals, Everywhere!?. Our new 8-11 year old camp is ?KIDS
for the BAY Explorers?. Each week of camp is led and managed by a
combination of Camp Leaders, Camp Assistant Leaders, and Camp Interns.
Our camper-to-staff ratio is low, ensuring an enriching, safe, and
positive camp experience for everyone. KftB also runs an after-care
    program, Nature Club, from 4-5pm.

BE A CAMP ASSISTANT LEADER WITH KIDS for the BAY!
Help make KIDS for the BAY?s Summer Camp an exciting and enriching
experience for 5-11 year olds! The Camp Assistant Leader (CAL) will
work side by side with Camp Leaders and Camp Interns each week of
camp. The CAL will lead or assist Camp Leaders in leading hands-on
science and nature activities each day of camp, and manage and ensure
the safety of all campers. During the camp sessions, all work will
    take place at our outdoor camp sites (mostly in the Berkeley area);
the CAL will also complete some orientation and training work at the
KftB office in Berkeley during the week of June 10 - 14. Camp Leaders
are year-round, professional KftB staff members; CALs and Camp Interns
are hired seasonally to assist our Summer Camp Program.

What will the Camp Assistant Leader gain from working with KIDS for the BAY?
The CAL will gain invaluable experience working with children,
teaching in the outdoors, implementing best practices in environmental
education, and coordinating and managing a camp program. This position
is an excellent career development opportunity for anyone seeking to
gain experience in teaching, education, working with youth, and

programs and train classroom teachers in environmental science during
the school year. The CAL will receive guidance, support, and
