Author: karen Meyers View Thread

Community Colleges, by law are charged with providing non crdit education, life long learning as well as vocational and transfer education. We serve the whole student, from cradle to grave, meeting all of their educational needs.

Remediation - over 90% of student coming from our local high schools require remedial work in math and/or and English. Community Colleges due remediaton becasue it is a necessity, a fact of life. We providee resources, attention ot goals, counsselors, educaiton advisors, mentors to out non credit students as well as job placement activities, career development. We access all the resources of a community college. Students like a college campus. It improves their morale and increases positive feelings about themselves. They discover new opportuntities and that "college" is not frightening. Karen Meyers, Vice Presdient, Community Education and Economic Development, Mt. San Antonio College
