I totally disagree with this idea of Ms. Lichtman's. Those of us who have been interested in this arena for sometime know that community colleges cost significantly more than adult ed programs to deliver the same information to the same students. Community colleges are not in students neighborhoods, not affiliated with their children's schools and have little interest in the total student (has anything changed since I was in community college?). The flexibility of the adult programs is their most alluring to the most disenfranchised students. These are the students that we need to reach the most.
