State Technology Contacts M.S.A. 124D.095 On-line learning option On-line learning is any interactive course or program delivering instruction to a student by computer that is combined with other traditional delivery methods which include frequent student assessment and meet or exceed state academic standards. Providers of on-line learning must notify the commissioner that they are delivering on-line learning and report the number of students participating and the number of courses it is providing. On-line learning students may enroll in a maximum of 12 semester-long courses during a single school year, must complete course work that is at a grade level different than the student's current grade level, and may enroll in additional courses with the provider under a separate agreement. Course may be developed by persons other than teachers with a Minnesota license, however, teachers with a Minnesota license must instruct courses provided by enrolling districts. On-line courses must be aligned with state academic standards and must be reviewed and certified by the Department of Education, which must develop, publish and maintain a list of approved on-line providers and courses. http://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/stats/124D/095.html Online Learning Programs
