Organization Profile:
TERC and the American Geological Institute are developing Earth Science by Design (ESBD), a Teacher Enhancement project funded by the National Science Foundation (ESI-0138644). The project is producing a web site and handbook for staff developers to enhance the capacity of middle school teachers of Earth science to:

• Teach for deeper, enduring understanding
  
• Teach to the big ideas in Earth and Space Science
