![]() Speaker Joe Graba Senior Policy Fellow Hamline University Staff Member, Education|Evolving 1536 Hewitt Avenue Saint Paul, MN 55104 jpgraba@earthlink.net Biography Joe Graba's career in public education spans 40 years as a high school teacher, union leader, state legislator and administrator, national education committee member, and a higher education administrator. Graba works at Minnesota-based Education|Evolving, which helps K-12 educators meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century through open-sector approaches, new organizational arrangements, chartering, and teacher ownership. Graba also serves as Senior Policy Fellow at Hamline University and recently served as Dean of Hamline's Graduate School of Education. He served three years as Vice President of the Minnesota Federation of Teachers and three terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives — for which he was Chair of the School Aid Committee. He was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Education for the State of Minnesota, State Director of Minnesota's Technical College System, Deputy Executive Director of the Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Board, and Interim Executive Director of the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office. In addition, Graba was Chair of the Education Committee of the Midwest Conference of the Council of State Governments and a member of the Education Task Force, National Conference of State Legislatures.
