Ruth Schoenbach joined WestEd in 1988 and serves as Director of the Strategic Literacy Initiative, which focuses on increasing access to higher-level literacy for middle and high school students. She is coauthor of Reading for Understanding: A Guide to Improving Reading in Middle and High School Classrooms.
