Biography
Bill Wilson is the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Teacher Education - Evaluation and Assurance, at the California State University (CSU). He collaborates with CSU presidents, vice presidents, and deans of education to assure that the CSU is preparing new teachers who can help California's students meet the new State Board of Education K-12 Academic Content Standards. CSU is conducting a three-year evaluation of teacher preparations, examining results to determine the factors that constitute effective preparation, and using the study to guide program improvements. The Teacher Education - Evaluation and Assurance office is involved with the development of policy, program implementation, and higher education reform related to teacher education and CSU partnerships with K-12 schools.

Prior to coming to the Chancellor's Office, Wilson was a Dean of Education and Department Chair in the CSU. He has also been involved with national education issues while working in Washington DC with the Council of Great City Schools, the National Association of State Directors of Special Education, and the U.S. Department of Education.

Wilson's earlier service in the public education system includes teaching junior high science, high school biology, U.S. and world history, and all levels of special education.
