Biography
Diane J. Cox is the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the Delano Union School District, located in California's San Joaquin Valley. The district's growing enrollment of over 7,500 students is primarily Hispanic, with a high number of English learners and migrant students. Cox was instrumental in helping the district achieve a 98.5 percent rate of fully credentialed teachers from 58 percent in 2000. She was recognized by the West Kern Chapter of the Association of California School Administrators as the Personnel/Human Resources Administrator of the Year for 2004. Cox previously served four years as the district's Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Under her guidance, the district aligned its goals and standards with the state standards. As an elementary school principal within the district for five years, she was instrumental in creating the district's first new school in 20 years. Cox also served as a vice principal, dean of students, curriculum specialist, and elementary school teacher.
