Equity
Americans strongly believe in equal opportunity, yet many features of our current educational system favor those who are already advantaged. These advantages arise primarily from possessing a higher socio-economic status ("the rich get richer"). How can the system as a whole be improved so that everyone can develop to their highest potential? In addition to disadvantages due to poverty, other barriers include biases related to language, culture and gender.

- Making Schools Work for Every Child equity materials from the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse. This site provides a collection of math and science equity materials to help teachers and administrators acknowledge children's diverse strengths, identify inequities, and improve the ways in which we currently serve students with varied needs. It includes stories and cases, resources for community building and self-assessment, projects, frameworks, and other resources. Also available on CD-ROM from your local Eisenhower Regional Consortium.
