The Equity Assistance Centers (EAC) were first established in 1978. There are 10 Regional Equity Assistance Centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education under Title IV of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. They provide assistance to public schools in the areas of race, gender, and national origin to promote equal educational opportunities.
Mission
The primary issue faced by school districts in the 21st century is to ensure that all schools provide the opportunity for students to succeed academically. Assisting schools and school districts to meet performance standards while ensuring equal opportunity for all students is the mission of the Equity Assistance Centers.
Clients
Any public school district within a center’s region is eligible to receive services from that center at no cost to the district. These schools include public schools, charter schools, and magnet schools.
