Gilroy School District, Gilroy CA In collaboration with the Gilroy School District, we have developed an online environment that helps schools quickly identify the key factors that are impeding student achievement. Its goal is to help schools write and implement comprehensive action plans that have clear, specific targets with assessments and supports so that individual student as well as school-wide growth is achieved.

The School Improvement Implementation and Monitoring Tool was developed for use in conjunction with on-site technical assistance focused on the collection of data and the development of a well-substantiated and coherent plan for improving the school. The tool grew out of the experience of WestEd staff that found that traditional school plans, no matter how well crafted, quickly become out-dated and sooner or later were forgotten in the crush of day-to-day activities. In other words, there was no easy way to monitor program implementation and student achievement and to use that data to make decisions about program modifications. The online tool encourages school teams to use their plans to guide well-articulated improvement strategies. WestEd has developed the tool on a structure that allows the application of multiple faces to allow for customized uses by schools, districts, state departments, and other clients.
