Overview
This section includes summaries of district accountability practices, from emerging practices to ones that are fully implemented districtwide. Practice summaries are presented for a sample of small to large districts across the state (see below, District Size). Districts were nominated by a variety of sources such as the California Department of Education, California School Leadership Academy, and the Local Accountability Improvement Project Advisory Committee. Nominees were asked to be interviewed, supply sample documents, and review drafts of their district practice write ups. One or more practices for each district were selected for presentation here. Contact information for district personnel is included in the practice summaries.

A brief description is followed by a full description for each district. Many practices have links to district Web pages and/or sample tools. Some online documents may be downloaded. Districts submitting online documents have requested appropriate citation when their documents are downloaded and used by other districts. There is an option to view demographic information for each district.
